Dear Friends,

According to the calendar, we’re heading into summer.  You wouldn’t know it in my part of New England.  But the newspapers explain that the wet, grey, not-warm weather is a Gulf Stream phenomenon--and really, it was worse in 1816, the Year Without a Summer.  Summer weather or not, my new book, DON’T TEMPT ME, arrives on bookstore shelves on 30 June.  Meanwhile, I’ve got a couple of new blogs scheduled to launch between now and then.  And of course, as always, the Work In Progress will keep me mostly in my hermit cave.  But for the next month or so, you might stop by and say Hello during my annual cybertour.  Please see below for updates.

Regards,
Loretta

BOOK NEWS

DON’T TEMPT ME has received some nice reviews at ALL ABOUT ROMANCE Click here to read more, whose reviewer also gave it Desert Isle Keeper status, and THE BOOK SMUGGLERS Click here to read more.  It was a Top Pick for July at Romantic Times, which also named my hero, the Duke of Marchmont, a Knight in Shining Silver.

You’ll find an excerpt on my Booklist page and you can read the first three chapters at the HarperCollins website Click here to read more

OTHER NEWS & MISCELLANY

I’m no longer blogging at Word Wenches (except for back-to-back mid-July interviews with Susan Holloway Scott), but my own blog, Loretta Chase . . . In Other Words, should be up and running any day now.  And Susan and I will be blogging together at Two Nerdy History Girls.  Watch this space for details.

And yes, I do hope to update my microsite at HarperCollins.  If only days were twice as long, I could do all this stuff and write books, too.

GENERAL BOASTFULNESS

YOUR SCANDALOUS WAYS was voted Best Historical Romance Not Set in the U.K. in the 2008 All About Romance Annual Reader Poll.  (click here to read more) In the same poll, it tied with Elizabeth Hoyt’s To Seduce A Sinner for Best Love Scenes.  In January, YOUR SCANDALOUS WAYS received an Honorable Mention in AAR’s Best of 2008,(click here to read more) Reviewer’s Choice-Historical Division.
In early February,YOUR SCANDALOUS WAYS was named to the American Library Association’s 2009 Reading List, (click here to read more) which “annually recognizes the best books in eight genres: adrenaline (which includes suspense, thriller and adventure), fantasy, historical fiction, horror, mystery, romance, science fiction and women’s fiction.”  YOUR SCANDALOUS WAYS appeared on the Romance Shortlist, along with works by Joanna Bourne, Sherry Thomas, and Lauren Willig.
You can find additional boastfulness elsewhere on this page without looking very hard.

TURKEY.  LORD OF SCOUNDRELS.
FRANCE:  J’ai Lu has released LORD OF SCOUNDRELS as LE PRINCE DE DÉBAUCHÉS and MR. IMPOSSIBLE as UN INSUPPORTABLE GENTLEMAN (Les Carsington-2).  French editions of YOUR SCANDALOUS WAYS and CAPTIVES OF THE NIGHT are also in the works.

LARGE PRINT, E-BOOKS, AND AUDIO

All of my in-print Avon and Berkley books are available as e-books.  Keeping track of Large Print editions is trickier, but I know that Avon has put out a beautiful hard cover large print edition of YOUR SCANDALOUS WAYSWhen/if my books are available in audio editions, we’ll post the news here.

BOOKS COMING & GOING

LORD PERFECT has lapsed out of print--though not for long, we hope.  For the moment, though, this leaves three of my historical romances and the six traditional Regencies out of print.  Some readers have asked about how to obtain unused editions of the out-of-print books.  In most--though not all--cases, this can be done without much difficulty.  Please send your request to author@lorettachase.com and include the book title(s) in the subject line.

You’ll find more about my books on the BOOKLIST page.

NEWSLETTERS and ANNOUNCEMENTS

To receive my e-newsletter, which appears two or three or four times a year, please sign up here.

For a post card announcement when a new book comes out, please email your name & address to author@lorettachase.com and type “Add to mailing list” in the subject line.  Please note:  For various reasons, including environmental, I’m not sure I’ll be doing the post card announcements after DON’T TEMPT ME’s July release,  so the best bet is signing up for the e-newsletter.
